A Compilation in aid of CALM Part II
Till Deaf Do Us Party Records present A Compilation in aid of CALM Part II
Our buddies over at Till Deaf Do Us Party are wonderful people; they are cementing this with a second compilation in aid of CALM (the Campaign Against Living Miserably). A charity close to hearts of an awful lot of people, in some ways the young male is a forgotten demographic when it comes to charities and support. The pressures to always be strong and unemotional within certain demographics make the work CALM do to prevent male suicide by offering support massively important.
Alongside the promotion and the fundraising that this compilation offers it is also a killer compilation, tracks from Tellison, The Xcerts and Lonely the Brave are always big hitters and there are a lot of contenders for your new favourite band amongst this 20 track beauty.
You can pick it up in all the usual places including a pay what you want (A LOT) option on Bandcamp, this is a great way to give some money to charity, get that warm feeling and enjoy some hot new music.
Part two of this compilation series should become the soundtrack to your summer!
This will be released on Friday (10/06/2016)
Here are some reasons you should be supporting CALM
In 2013, male suicide accounts for 78% of all suicides and is the single biggest cause of death in men aged 20 – 45 in England and Wales
The aim of the compilation is not just to make money for CALM though every penny raised will go to help the charity’s wonderful work, but to promote the fact that mental illness is no longer a taboo, especially in men, and that people DO care and are looking out for them.
Jim from Cassels:
‘This song was written in the wake of a particularly debilitating few days of crippling anxiety and neurosis where I became too scared to leave my flat. As is often the case for people struggling with these sorts of episodes, I failed to talk to anyone or seek help in any way. I consider myself lucky that writing songs can act as a bit of a catharsis and remedy for me, however most men aren’t so lucky. This is a great cause and a great charity, and we’re really happy to be contributing this track to try and help raise some money towards it.’
Murray from the Xcerts:
“We are really delighted to be a part of the new CALM compilation. I first discovered CALM a couple of years ago when they approached me about another project i was involved with and i knew pretty much instantly that they were a charity i wanted to be involved with. The male suicide rate in the UK alone is absolutely terrifying and raising awareness for something as serious as this, is something that myself and the band will continue to do for as long as we can. CALM is a charity that does amazing work and exists to prevent young men taking their lives. Their charity and campaign is something everybody should be getting behind.”
